It’s hard to find a more controversial topic in web development today than Tailwind CSS. Earnest, well-meaning people use Tailwind for pragmatic reasons to get a job done, and I have no beef with them. But the “fan community” of Tailwind—the true believers, the diehards—has been going after advocates of web standards and using “vanilla CSS” for years. The rhetoric veers into toxic fandom and tribalism. This must stop.
But in addition to (fruitlessly?) engaging tit for tat on Twitter, I thought I’d have a little fun and record a video with my reactions to some of the comments I received. Like it or hate it, at least it’ll provide some fodder for a deeper conversation, and with luck, a laugh or two!
